Great Escape

Gradually I realise my dream is near fruition
Reaching for my suit and boots I pop his note next to my heart
Each and every hour, minute, second, every heartbeat
As I glance over my shoulder a kiss I blow ~ I love you so
The day has dawned the sky is clear my smile it spreads from ear to ear

Elevator rises like my spirit, like my soul
Shouts of jubilation folks I pass ~ thumbs up through glass
Cautionary measures, last minute checks, all set to go
And then the final walk we’re all strapped in they lock the door
Panic passes fast as final countdown reaches zero
Explosion - screams below ~ but smiling souls in space forevermore...

Hahaha now that's an invite I can't refuse SO, well spotted! Though I am not convinced I would get away with it, even dressed in my gold Gucci spacesuit (see my poem 'Will I be there on the Rocket') after all I am young at heart, but sadly the old bod is not, hahaha. Thanks for putting a smile on my face SO. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

Yes I love anything to do with space and the moon, so it seemed a perfect escape from all the madness that surrounds us here. Thanks SO for your welcome visit. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

Well said, Ann; I think it says why we paint, write, and journey to challenging, because different, spaces. It is our nature to transcend and explore all our images and hearts.

Well written Ann, never attempted that form yet. It's got to be better up there than down here lol. Good luck. Tom

I am rather passionate about anything to do with space and what a way to go! Thanks for your comments Tom, you really should give this form a try, I always enjoy it. What a dismal day it is here, I hope your weather is better than mine. With kindest thoughts Ann xx PS in the blink of an eye there is bright blue sky with sunshine beaming down, who could ask for more...
