Gratitude

It is with humble gratitude that I approach each day
For the friends and the loved ones that cross my way.

For the wonder of life and the turning wheel,
For the fortune it brings and the cards it will deal.

My life is adventure lived inside of my head,
The puzzle of rhyme waiting in line to be read.

For intellect and smile both of which I’ve inherited,
They help to make light for those who are dispirited.

For all of these things I offer my deep gratitude,
Now back to the jokes after this brief interlude.
