Grandpa's Farm
when I was young, I recall the apple trees in rows
and the farm house and the grass that was so green
the chickens, and the rooster who announced the day
and I helped grandma collect the chicken eggs
and played in the hay, but
grandpa, told me to be careful in the stables
for I loved the horses and watched spellbound
and the milk cows were scattered in fields so peaceful
and the daisies and buttercups grew wild everywhere
at night I could hear the owl who lived in the barn
as I closed my little girl weary eyes
