What a wonderment for her to be alive my Grandma's Grandma
Just look at her hands these are grandma's little hands the hands where she needed white linen and cotton sacks the hands that scrubbed masses wife and children barebacks the hands that made crackling bread on a pot belly stove
Grandma's little hands
Braided her children's hair
Made brooms and candles wit the little hands
Grandma's little hands pic pick cotton in the field
And when it hung Grandpa on the tree
For little hands cried out raised in the sky she screamed out loud Lord oh, Lord why me
Grandma's little hands word withered and torn worn
Grandma's little hands wash clothes in lye soap
Warren tattered and torn that ever so strong
Nothing could go up so wrong grandma's little hands
And she would get clasp her hands together in prayer
She kept the family straight
Hope strong little hands would never retaliate
Grandma's little hands
