Grandma's Hands

I looked down at the desk today
And saw my grandma’s hands
It’s been so many years
I thought I had forgotten
The way they creased when laid flat
On the arm of her living room chair
The brown spots visible when
She gripped the phone in the kitchen
Walking around tethered by
The longest cord I’d ever seen
One you could play jump rope with.
The ring, I don’t remember
Was it off in a box due to arthritis?
Not on a chain, no
She wouldn’t do that.
Where was it?
Why can’t I remember?
I look down and see her hands again
And smile.
