Grampa's Promise

One day I may be gone but
I’ll be forever by your side
I’ll watch you grow
Look out for signs

Somehow I’ll let you know
I’m there and proud of you
Of the man you are becoming
As you strive to dream and
Make those dreams come true

I aspired to the day
I’d shake your hand
And offer words of wisdom

I’ve lived a life
That’s served me well
Things weren’t always easy
But I pursued my dreams
And the best of those
Were seeing you rise to become
The man you are becoming

One day I may not be there
But forge ahead, grandson
Make your own path
The world is yours
To conquer
