Goodbye

Tonight you joined the stars,
Leaving my arms with a shell,
never forgetting the love that was ours.
Even if my heart burns like hell.

Memoires spilling out of my eyes,
Hysterical sobs of grief,
may you be free in the skies.
and be as light as a leaf.

I held your body while you departed,
reality's icy tears flow in my veins
may your journey have just started.
your soul is free from it's bodily chains.

For the time you helped me stop,
Kissed the blood off my arm,
you made the blade drop
Teaching that I didn't deserve harm

When tears used to stream down my face,
you'd come and curl up on my lap,
with your element of grace,
while purring you'd take a nap.

Your purr healed my heart,
you got my love to start.
Eyes so bright,
urging me to write.

Thank you for the hug,
even if you puke on the rug.
Thank you for the love,
You've freed me like a dove.

May you bless another like you have me.
May you find peace within this life or another.
May your spirit lift others up.
May you never feel pain again.
May you feel forever young.

I love you Pumpkin.
Goodbye

Such a heartfelt piece Elissa. We had to put down my dog of 13 years last year and I felt so bad....A pet is there for you no matter what.

Elissa, I am so sad and sorry for your loss. You have expressed so much in this poem. I'm not really a cat person but you had me tearing up. I hope you feel better soon. I saw her picture the other day. She was a pretty cat.
