Goodbye 2017

New Year's Eve shall come and go,
a new year shall begin without warning-
may the dreary Winter release her woe,
and wake up to a beautiful morning.

Full of dreams like a innocent child,
remembrances of yesterdays gone by-
the birth of the Savior, so meek and so mild,
has come to light and to another year, goodbye.

          Tomorrow shall begin delicate days,
full of new beginnings and sincerity-
for peace on earth I shall always pray,
may this world be full of love and clarity.

I guess I have but one regret,
it is that I didn't live life as I planned-
but all the lessons learned I shan't forget,
for only my soul can understand.

Let go of all pain and fear not,
                                    peace may come with ease-
may showers of love be brought,
and all pain and suffering cease.

Great poem, this may be the best poem I've read dealing with saying bye to a year with anticipation for the new year. I hope 2018 is your best year ever. Take care, Carl 'Wayne' Jent

Luloo, this truly is a time of reflection of the year past and a time to look forward with great hope for the coming year. I really like your final quatrain. John
