Good God and Bad

Would a good God permit an Auschwitz Would a bad god grant Mother Theresa long life Would a good God turn Osama bin Laden loose Would a bad god have given Adam a wife When folks say they don't believe in God they mean a good God would never do bad while a bad God would never do good ~ though such a test is designed for childhood

And so scripture teaches us that eventually after his great mercy, he gives man over to their own ways. What a warning this is against evil.

God doesn't want robots; we, non-robots, have to overcome our Evil inclinations...

Gershon, Did god interfere with Pharaoh’s free will? Pharaoh made a choice Exodus 5:2, 7:14 God says to Moses “Pharaoh’s heart is hard…” 8:15 once again Pharaoh hardened his heart. Again vs 19 and 8:32 once again. 9:12 The Lord hardens his heart vs 35 …So Pharaoh’s heart was hard. Constantly he tells Moses I have sinned against God.

Well, the Hebrew would help me explain this. Failing that, here's a thought: Commentators point out that G-d had to harden Pharaoh's heart during certain plagues in order to maintain Pharoah's free will: the horror of certain plagues would be like pointing a gun at Pharaoh's head. Without hardening Pharaoh a bit, the latter would just have let the Jews go before the 10th plague. ~ gw

Man as god…would man allow Auschwitz, 911, evil? What we don’t understand is huge. None of us deserve the goodness of God and yet he is merciful and good. Guess what? Adam was standing next to Eve as the serpent tempted her. …she also gave some to her husband who was with her… (Genesis 3:6)

Shirley said it all Gershon. I tend to agree with her. As you know God is always great and loves us and gives us the choices we make whether good or bad. If not all would be good and there would not be any choice to judge us on... Thanks for sharing my friend...

Keep this dialogue going, guys. I think it's better than Socrates vs. Plato .... well, ok, better than Mike Tyson vs. Joe Biden AND Kamala Harris, lol.

sos he made us weak and fallible so he could judge and punish us???? Some times a bad choice is the only option available.

God gave us free will to choose between good and evil as we see it; our genetic makeup and social standing can wobble the scale. Adam and Eve had everything they needed and more but still had a bite of the forbidden fruit, enough to make anyone cross. Does that make God wrong? I don't think so; a man made the world imperfect. not God. Here endeth the lesson???

Here beginneth the lesson... Let's get it going with this 'simple question:' Why did God keep the Israelites for (an actual) 190 years in Egypt (out of the 400 years that they would be subjugated in a land not theirs.)? Did the the Israelites need 190 years of slavery to 'learn a lesson?' And then, after all that time, God interfered with Pharaoh's free will anyway, 'hardening his heart' several times, before finally bringing down the hammer of killing all the first-born... So, why 190 years?! I await your reply...
