Good Doggie

The doggie did his duty
And he earned his master’s praise:
“You’re such a good good doggie!”
But his eyes began to glaze…

For he only did what Nature
Had intended him to do –
Nothing special or heroic,
Yet perhaps that doggie knew…

That his owner’s pure excitement
Over excrement was weird
‘Cause each time he had to go,
It made him more and more endeared.

To dogs, we humans are bizarre
For while the pets are pooping,
Their owners dole out compliments
The whole time they are scooping.

Hahaha! Wish I had written this poem, Ilene! It rings so true. My dog gets a treat every time he does his "duty" (the French call it "son petit travail"), especially number 2. Anf when I forget, he taps me on my calf to remind me. A delightful poem, Ilene. / M

But that is also said to children who choose potty over nappy, isn't it? Then they grow up to squat forever with their SmartPhone on a public toilet! Another keeper, Ilene! Aloha! Rico

I admire folk who clean up after their pets, but many do not and that makes my blood boil.

Not as much as mine boils when police ignore the crime with excuses such as, "too old to bend over safely", "no plastic bag", "no convenient trash can", etc. Too disgusting for words! Aloha! Rico
