God, Where is My Rain
But what happens
when the one who holds you,
once was the one who broke you?
What happens
when the one who loves you,
is the one who hurts you—
not like the shooter behind the gun,
but like the sun
to a flower wilting for rain.
You don’t want to destroy me,
you just want to save me.
See me smile without shadows of doubt,
hold me tight with hopes I won’t run.
But I’m still.
There is nowhere to run,
nowhere to shade myself
from the sun meant to nourish me,
as it slowly kills me.
God, where is my rain?
