God - Powerful, Yet Personal
God spoke, and light from darkness came,
while making earth, He did the same.
The moon, the sun, the stars, and birds,
were all created by His word.
As sovereign God, He rules o’er all
His power none can ever stall.
Yet power does not fully show,
the essence God wants us to know.
As Elohim, God transcends all
His greatness can create a wall.
If this is all we know of Him,
Our view of God will then be flawed.
As Yahweh, God is near to us
O’er human beings, He makes a fuss.
That’s why He sent His only Son
to rectify what sin had done.
Immanuel was God with us.
God in flesh left us nonplussed.
Creator God as creature came,
to redeem us and take our shame.
Who would not love a God like this,
Such love deserves a holy kiss.
So, why do humans reject God?
It’s surely not because He’s flawed.
Satan presents God as aloof
and cites sin’s effects as his proof.
He smears God’s nature with his lies,
and God’s true goodness he denies.
Search for yourself, the sacred text,
Then review history’s record next.
With an open mind, ponder the facts
Carefully examine God’s acts.
If due diligence you would do,
you may just change your point of view.
Read Chesterton and Lewis too,
and you will see that God is true.
God is powerful, yet personal,
His attributes are supernal.
May we who God’s own image bear,
desire to, His likeness share.
