Notes About The Poem

God Cheats By Proxy

God is master of the universe
except on the internet
he often needs help
he has no internet account

so followers cheat
here and there
God must be heard
he commanded the cheat
Is all in the small print

God they feel is not strong
he needs them to defend
me me me me little me
to make sure he is heard

I don't see irony
I don't understand irony
I don't really have iron morals
I simply cheat and iron, then cheat
I, blinded, extremist, iron clad

there are poets
there are hackers
some are philosophers
some see behind the smoke screen

tick tock
the computer slows to a crawl
the cell phone misses calls
wonder do ya?

was God behind that all?

Oooh, very clever, Arthur. Enjoyed the story behind this poem very much. There is a TV show here called "God Friended Me" in which God does seem to have an internet account. Great write, Arthur! Hugs, Carolyn
