God set his bow in the clouds,
pointed upwards with no strings.
Likewise, it contains no arrows.
God calls it “my bow.”
We call it a rainbow -
we know not to expect
a worldwide flood.
We all stepped out of the ark.
to see the rainbow’s colorful arch.
Whether partial or full,
we admire our rainbow.
God’s bow is a promise,
he will not sling arrows -
no rain descending on all humanity.
No wiping us out with a flood.
God’s bow, nicely nestled,
in the thunder clouds.

I have placed my bow in the clouds,
and it will be a sign of the covenant
between me and the earth…water
will never again become a flood
to destroy every creature.
Genesis 9:13, 15b CSB
