Notes About The Poem

Etymology - The Meaning Of Your Name Poetry Contest N/A

Article by Augustin Anaya Family Coat Of Arms bing.com

ANAYA Its—Origin: Spain

Anaya is a Spanish Surname—Meaning Protecter, Guardian

Anaia Its origin: Basque—Meaning Friar or brother

Anaias its origin: Arabia—Meaning God Answers

After the Spanish Kingdom unified “y” in Anaya

So, although it is practically impossible to go back further than 600 years and trace the family (without a very large budget), I have been able narrow the origin to only two possibilities: Anaya’s (or Anaias) are of Basque Origin (Which also allows for the possibility of French Ancestry) or Moorish (yes, as in Arabic). Now, it is more likely that the first is true.

But Anaya’s being from Catholic, Castillian Spain, speaking Spanish?? Hmmm, does not look like those are the true origins of our Family. At least not until Spain was able to force the Moors out of the Iberian Peninsula, and not until the Spanish crown demanded loyalty from its newly found subjects, including Catalunians.

Not a good time to bring up Othello. "Soft you, A word or two before you go."

How far do you want to go back Anaya, things can get very sketchy, unless you’re royalty, but you never know lol! most of the family history records of people in Ireland were destroyed during the civil war here, 100 years or so ago! anyway you best brush up on your Catalan, it’s a million miles from Spanish, a very elucidating read, cheers David

Well let me see, my Grandfather Gustavo (mom's side) and his brother are Mason's buried at the Pierce Brothers Valhalla Masonry Dignity, North Hollywood-CA. The last stooge is there, Joe DeRite (Curly) & many celebrities. The Anaya's on my Papa's side. I'm not pronouncing my S's starting now!

It is what it is, in the Suzette Prime form, S.P. limited syllables are perfect for such a name that doesn't mean flower or jewel of any kind, just a few words can describe the meaning God Answers. Thank you, I meant what I said, do what you feel is best for you, you can always come back and leave us your genius once more! ~Anaya
