Gnats
As little demons I view gnats.
They’re worse than spiders, snakes and rats!
One gnat arrives, and next I see
in droves them come; they will not flee!
A spider I’ll see once or twice
within a week. That’s not so nice
to see them, but they’re oft alone
and making cobwebs on their own.
They might too catch the pesky fly
which I see also by and by.
So though the spider creeps me out,
it’s still not flying all about!
I toss out fruit or just a crumb,
and summer’s gnats are sure to come!
Those tiny bugs annoy me so.
I wish outside they all would go.
The snake that slithers in the grass -
for years I have not seen one pass
in front of me; nor have I found
a sign of any rats around.
The spider, snake, the mouse or rat -
they frighten me, but it’s the gnat,
the pest the smallest of the small,
I find most bothersome of all!
