The world is hushed, garbed with an outfit white, The trees stand bare, with branches stark and cold, The day`s orb, quite shy, offers little light, A winter story silently unfolds. The birds have flown to lands of warmer skies, The squirrels are sleeping in their veiled nest, The wild woeful wind warping up so high Plants exhausted nature strongly to test. The days are short, the nights long, dreary, deep, A time to crack fires, one`s breath to withhold, While snowy dreams through frozen eyes do creep And winter`s gloom gradually unroll. But underneath, a promise starts to bloom, Awaiting spring to chase away the gloom.
