Glass Jars

The last taste of summer was tucked in my pockets empty mason jars with the scent of butterflies had lids with lingering raspberry labels spelling will-not-go-down-sun ran with sandals and band-aids to the end of a childhood. © Gry W Christensen

The end of summer and the end of childhood.....Some have a lovely childhood, others look back on it with regret. My childhood was simple yet enjoyable...would not have traded it for anything. I rate this poem highly...well done. // paul

Thanks a lot! If it's funny I'm happy, because to me it has a very bitter sweet taste.

This is beautiful; like a barefoot child running down the page.

I really like when people write like this! It's using symbolism but not in a way that is difficult to understand, which I feel some free verse writers do. Very nicely done. I love the nostalgic feel of this.
