giving in to the current

Lost in a sea of bodies
they all just drown me out
I feel the current of their disinterest
not giving up, pulling me down
the glitter on my face, it must’ve lost its shine
I’m still writing this story
that has stood the test of time
a glimpse in my direction has become something so rare
at the hottest spot in town and it’s as if nobody’s there
it’s a pain so practiced it shouldn’t be phasing
but with every final hope I’m bleeding from old grazing
I’ve been treading water and treading for too long
my ignorance was bliss and now my ignorance has gone
so I’ll stop the frantic swimming, polished acting and smile winning
feel my body just give in
feel the current start to win
wave goodbye to the surface that was never really mine
only to return should someone crave that glitter shine
