Give Me Nature

Once I saw a pretty bird
Singing sweetly songs I heard
Pleasant-looking in a tree
My heart it filled with so much glee.
All around fine flowers grew
Bright beneath the sky so blue
There was beauty in the eye
I didn’t wish to say goodbye.
The sun in gold was going home
Grand like Caesar in old Rome
Whilst around they all played
Perky children God had made.
Far from nature it’s quite sad
Give me nature— and I’m glad.
