Give Me A Place

Give me a place where I can hide
No drones, no bombs, no genocide
No blood, no tears, no pain, no death,
A place serene, a place of wealth

A place of sweet prosperity
Where fear and grief are history
A place of comfort and delight
Where terror doesn't stalk the night

Give me a place where freedom reigns
Where pristine clothes have no blood stains
Give me a place that feels like home
Where I no longer have to roam

Give me a place above the ground
Where flowers circle all around
Give me a place that cradles me
A place of deep tranquility

Before I die and leave this place
Let sunlight kiss my upturned face
Let stars at night sing lullabies
Before I have to close my eyes

Give me a place that welcomes me
Oh, God Almighty, hear my plea
Give me a place that soothes my heart
Before my dreams all fall apart.

Give me, give me a place!

You have created a beautiful poem and place and which anyone would love to desire? This is really a great poem and goes as my favourite one also? I am visiting your poem first time but you way of asking for the desired place in simple touching words says a lot about you? With best wishes for your coming Birthday?? Ravindra K Kapoor

Eileen, I wish I could take away all of your pain. I won't interject my political opinions as to the current situation that is occurring in Lebanon. My words could never alleviate your situation but that is all I have. Your sad beautiful poem breaks my heart knowing about your situation. I hope you are as well as you can be under the circumstances. Try to stay safe and, for what little good it does, I hope you know that there are people out here thinking about you and wishing you the best.

The way you describe war makes it almost tangible . May peace prevail.

I know how you must feel, dear Eileen, especially with regards to your land of birth. All this widespread violence is causing profound hardship and destroying communities. I hope that you (and people of good will) will eventually find "a place where freedom reigns". LOve & HUgs dear friend. // paul

I think of the middle east in this piece. But since then In my own country we are experiencing ICE. This takes us there. people are frightened. And this piece now applies to us.

Deep, dear poet, heartfelt especially in the region of the world you live in...I'd say come to America, but it too has become a garbage dump of hatred and turmoil...
