Give and Take

when i grow up, i wanna be a pickpocket
more respectable perhaps than a hypocrite
to tell the truth i really don't want to remit
yet it seems kinda unkind, to just be opposite

so i'll say to you the outrage i feel
'bout things that to me, seem too unreal
i'm tired of stuff that strikes a raw deal
those daily events that seem...so surreal

how can it be allowed to be a part of our lives
with so many against it, even before it arrives
our very civilization predicted not to survive
if it's allowed to go on unchecked and thrive

hoodies and harpies of careless said stuff
people state their lies right off the cuff
and detested words of hate, just to be tough
loudly shouted sounds seem truth, odd enough

so let's be sure we're against what they say
we shouldn't entertain it any other way
it's either our lives, or theirs in disarray
no point compromising to meet anyone halfway

"live and let live" are just some empty words
to be followed blindly by opposition's herds
we know their belief is just for the birds
besides, we have no leanin's that way towards

you may think i'm a bore and a bit ill-tempered
even go further to say i'm totally self-centered
entertain the thought of intransigence engendered
but you gotta admit, at least i'm remembered

don't want no platitudes, jus' gimme a break
the bes' glass is full, for my thirst to slake
it's better for everyone, 'specially my sake
to live life by the rule of, you give and i take

some might misunderstand, unable to fathom
don't want to cause you to involuntarily spasm
but i offer my view with honest enthusiasm
if you don't know by now, just a bit of sarcasm
