I sprouted from a small seed planted firmly in the ground With refreshing drinks of water my size it can confound! My long legs must be supported, or I could stoop and bend I love being out of doors where the sun is my best friend! I’m a great sun worshipper and my face follows the sun I tower over small plants, being tall is so much fun On sunny days I tan my face; my seeds turn golden brown Small children look up at me, hoping that my seeds drop down! I’ve been told that I’m the tallest bloom in the flower bed Some think I’m conceited, I’ve got such a giant head Birds attack my face when they peck my tasty stripy seeds It doesn't bother me at all, I’ll cater for their needs! 136 words Personification Poem 150 poetry Contest Sponsored by Caren Krutsinger 05/28/21

Hi Jan, What a cute, lovely personification - a beautiful tall sunflower telling us how it feels - in our house that we had in the family for years and which grew and grew with renovations until Elias and I began rattling in it, and which therefore we sold, was a huge farm that took up half of the area /suburb we lived in. One year the farmer used to plant mealies, corn and the next sunflowers, what a sight it was! Such a breathtaking poem, love it. Blessings and hugs, Jennifer.

The very personification of fun flowers, but you managed to remind me that I’ve got a couple of dozen in my greenhouse that should have gone out weeks ago. They’re miles too tall, miles too thin and have about a dozen leaves between them. Good luck in the contest, Jan. Terry

Maybe it's because I've always wanted to be tall that I am enchanted with this (although it also makes me think of a giraffe!) This should be a top winner~

Wonderful personification, Jan. Caren will like this one, too, I think. Those sunflower seeds are really good for your health, I'm told. Nice couplets.
