Gifts Within a Lifetime

I offer you a vase
to hold the memories of your dusk to dawn
to fill with coins
for the days that you share with those who have none
to fill with flowers
for the days to remind you of natures beauty
to fill with strength
for the days that you will need to be strong
to fill with the generosity of the heart
for the days that you are called to forgive
to fill with the scent of the sea
for the days that you stand on a desert
to fill with dreams
for the days that your hopes are shattered
to fill with friendship
for the days that you will be called to walk alone
to fill with magic
for the days you need to fly and touch the sun
to fill with sweet memories
for the days that are painful to forget
to fill with your truths
for the days that others lie to you
to fill with the closeness of my heartbeat
for the days you need to feel close to me
                                                         Irish
