Gifts From the Sea
Hardened sea star hopes
cast from blackened, soundless depths
are quickly discovered by treasure seekers
and secured in pockets of wool
Fossiled crab claw rage
bent from the cask of revenge
slowly dissolves into shells, into sand
to be sifted and carted away
Worn pearl orbs of dreams
rubbed raw from years of abuse
are shined up and carried in sweet hands of children
to be reborn and dreamed once again
Sand dollars inspired and green
left skeletal, open and raw
are lifted away by the sea and it's waves
to be bleached into sea bells of awe.
