GIFT OF RECOVERY

GIFT OF RECOVERY

When it all appears lost and gone
Hopes and dreams do not survive
There’s so little left to think upon

Even an inert soul can still be alive
Although recovery seems remote
But with the promise it may arrive

A chance, despite any book quote
For natural healing to be effective
As prayers may stick in the throat

It might be a gift, perhaps selective
Yet can turn one’s fortunes around
By following some sublime directive

Who provides the gift one may ask
Can it be for any or all, to receive
Maybe an answer behind the mask

Is it about what we know or believe
Cheating death isn’t sour, but sweet
A gift when it was the time to leave

Victory when recovery is complete
Snatched from those jaws of defeat
