Ghetto Superstar

I feel like you all treat me like a child.
I’m no lost child. I’m older than all of you,
at least in spirit.
Yes, I’m not perfect. Whoever is, raise your hand.
Only Jesus raises his hand. Only he is perfect.
Jesus looks at me and says:

I loved you before you knew me.
Now learn to know yourself
As I know you.
You’re a long way from perfect,
But I love you just the same.

And I want to cry, but I can’t.
There’s already a smile on my lips.
Jesus, my Jesus.

Jesus says: You’ll win if you just keep going.
A setback is just that, a setback.
Everything can teach us something.
What have you learnt?
Impatience. Pride.
Ghetto Superstar.
You’ll make it.
I’m actually almost impressed.

Peace out.
