Getting the Poison Out For Good

The faster the clock ticks The faster my heart beats The lights got me feeling sick And facing defeat Words splashed across the wall From splattered vomit this morning A monument to all who said I'd fall If I died would they all be mourning? It's selfish but I did it to me Drink after drink after drink Now I'm stuck on an island in a lonely sea My only options to swim or sink So tired of chasing the buzz Life got me messed up and depressed As if in pursuit like the fuzz Arresting me so that I confessed My heart is a breeding ground For poison and hate The leftovers of a good man to be found Killed by himself, what a fate On my bed I'm shaking and sobbing My head twisting and spinning As I tremble my temple is throbbing From a lost decade of sinning The faster the clock ticks The faster my heart beats And I'm running out of tricks To keep my butt off the streets I'm getting the poison out for good Because this may be my last chance In this dark and dilapidated neighborhood I've got to get out and give life one last dance
