Gentle Slope

I walked a gentle slope My heart full of hope A sight serene to me A sea to see to be free Traverse the hill For a lonely thrill Look upon it all But dare not fall An ocean of gray Where pilgrims still pray A lighthouse illuminates Our fate of hate But still we dream Of being one team A nod of the head The earth is my bed Wise are leaf rattles I'm amused by their tattles If here I fell asleep My purity I could keep It's always a pity That I return to the city But still I walked a gentle slope My heart bursting with hope
