Notes About The Poem

For Tania Kitchen's Tell me about your hobby contest.

This is a sonnet, but had to use rhyme as a form as contest only allowed that form.

A garden is a blessing from God.... Not only did gardening help me being stuck at home for over 400 days, as I was not allowed to go into work, but it also made me so much stronger physically... And you alway reap what you sow..

Gardening

Started in lockdown when a little bored, with tender care planted hundreds of seeds. To create a garden to be adored, spent days removing the most ugly weeds. Bought plants to attract butterflies and bees. Sowed tulip and daffodil bulbs for spring. Nurtured the soil, so they would grow with ease, to bloom in colours to make the heart sing. For summer, I prepared baskets and beds, as an array of roses spread their scent. In white, lilac, orange and mix of reds, gardening was a blessing - heaven sent. Four years later and each season still shows, how nature's pure art spreads radiant glows.

Dear Silent One, Proud to let you know my son and I have started our gardening again yesterday... Planted potatoes, spring onions etc just starting small, one little area at a time, so we can give our efforts proper attention... Will separate and prune little by little, so we can spread creation and it's dynamic divine force in living space. Thank you for the inspiration! ( Read and reread your poems all the time-very relatable, comforting, inspiring!!!

What a worthwhile effort, S O. I have never been able to grow anything, but I do so admire others who have the ability.

Silent One, talk about making lemonade from lemons! I mentioned I recently retired and so I have been doing a lot of weeding and gardening as well with my wife. It's enjoyable indeed. Your garden is beautiful...but it is the result of your efforts.

From the pictures, I understand that you have taken a lot of effort in setting up a garden. During Covid days, I too had many flowers blooming in my garden as I had more time with no guests or relatives to entertain. I love reading anything about flowers and gardening and seeing them. Staying within the confines of a sonnet, you have done your best. Good luck dear Silent One. Thanks for sharing the pictures of your garden!

I loved seeing the outer expression of your heartfelt inner joy of gardening, Silent One! Inspiring to view the worthy fruits of your labours, it's quite moving, as gardening is for me a way of being close, both to heaven and earth. God's blessing evident in your tender care. My garden is a little "jungle", needs lots of work, but just the fact that there is so much biodiversity hidden as well as seen, brings deep pleasure to my heart. And healing in many ways too. Fav, ((Warm Hugs))

This garden is truly deserving of an abundance of affection and tender loving care. The poetry it exudes is simply magnificent. Planting is an enjoyable activity. Using vibrantly colored roses and other fragrant plants attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies and pours fresh life around them garden is stunning!

"Four years later and each season still shows, how nature's pure art spreads radiant glows." -- Very beautiful, Si; love your poem and you garden. I have one also, blooms, veggies and fruits. A lot of work. Cheaper if I would buy them in supermarket -- but in my own products I know there are no toxins. Poetic blooms.
