Game Changer

What if life was different and the rules remade, I dare say injury would even turn on the blade. Countless wishes were granted and others made untrue. That once was green was now made blue. How lucky I should be, were things made so. Now, I simply turn away and let them go. Things and people, goals and dreams, they are all dying as I flush them down the stream. In lesser evil times I wouldn't be so mean, but the crown of selfishness has proclaimed me its queen. Queen over lovers, Queen over lives, Queen over covers, Queen over knives. If she wasn't me, I could be good, but Darling, please know; it doesn't mean that I would. Your love is what the half-empty and amorous seek, but I run away from it because it makes me weak. What if life was different and all the rules remade, I would stop living in my well-known kingdom of shade. Our wishes would be granted and our lies made untrue, That once was lonely would now be with you.
