Notes About The Poem

Furry Friend Lost

My furry friend vanished into the night
Fireworks had her running away in fright
A cursed Fourth Of July
My dog’s lost and I cry
Now heartbroken I search by dawn’s early light

It happens. I wonder if it's true of you?

No, but I have much empathy for those who have. I have had goldfish die on me, didn't grieve very long, does that make me a cold fish? Robert

So sad, I see this every fourth of July. My dog has gone somewhat deaf, so it didn't bother him not unless it sounded like it was coming from a canon.

Lost dogs are always heartbreaking satiations as in "Where Oh Where Has my Little Dog gone" and "Come Back Little Sheeba". There should be more PSA's! Thank you for your visit! Robert

Robert you are so right. My dog Tavi had a heck of a time on the days before, during, and after the fourth as our neighbors were celebrating. We tried to comfort him. Also when it thunders he gets nervous and starts barking. This was well written with a lot of truth to it.Thanks for sharing...

Absolutely it seems to me that our fury friends at times care more about us than we do about them. Thank you for your visit always a joy.

As I've observed again and again--your average dog is a nicer person than your average person! So glad you enjoyed.

AWWW Fireworks are so cruel to our pooches.. They should be banned. umm That's the fireworks NOT the pups. SO sad but a warning to pet owners, so I liked it. Wonderful limerick Robert

Lol, A dog's hearing is so acute that they must feel as if they're fleeing for their lives. What are owner's thinking? Appreciate your comment of concern!

Great limerick, despite the sad subject. Did the dog 'hail' a cab?!
