From Where I Live

Just west from where I live is Utah Lake,
where in the summer boaters like to take
their many kids, for Utah is the state
where Mormons live and like to populate!

Down south from my small city, deserts lie:
Bryce Canyon, Zion’s Park; it’s hot and dry
but beautiful! And eastward I can see
The Rocky Mountains rise majestically.

Just north of me, Timp cave! And seagulls thrive
around a giant salty lake. I drive
To Salt Lake or Park City for a show.
And those who ski love Utah’s “Greatest Snow.”

My city, once all trees, where peace resides,
is Pleasant Grove, with beauty on all sides!

A super travelogue of your environs. I should try something like this for my hometown for there is a lot of diverse climes and contours in So California. I enjoyed getting to know the highlights of your home state.

Congratulations, Andrea on your win in Brian Strand's contest, " Sonnet Me ". It was a well-deserved winning poem, describing the magnificence of the State of Utah. The Rocky Mountains is a breath-taking sight, so celebrated in many poems and songs. I wish you continued success and more wins in the near future. Enjoy your honor and smile. Love and admiration, Andrew.

Nicely penned for the contest, Andrea! And congrats on being featured in an anthology. I myself prepared a number of "short Poems" (Haiku, Senryu and Tanka) for a German anthology, but only in German. They will sell it in all booksstores and even on amazon.de. Thank you for your kind comments! The Atacama Desert and the geysirs of El Tatio are situated in Chile. Have a nice sunday1 Love, Gert
