From Victor To Victim
The applause is unending, your victory is sweet!
You were the very best, you now feel complete.
Glory shines all around you, the world falls at your feet
Everyone is your friend, photos with strangers you meet.
Then there's the praise, adulation from the whole nation
Everyone wants a piece of you, every day's a celebration
You're a celebrity now, begins paparazzi's machinations
You can't go anywhere now, without gossip and speculation.
However, fame doesn't last, it get's sucked into the past
Someone else replaces your reflection in the looking glass
No more greetings from strangers, or applause that lasts
Fame slips from clenched fists, evanesces from your grasp.
From victory to victim, now comes the words of derision
Welcome to the dark world, as you get sucked into Oblivion!
