From Now On
From Now On
From now on I’ll think twice—or thrice—
before I say what’s on my mind.
So often my two grandkids wind
up laughing at me. That’s the price
I pay when just whatever pops
into my head comes spilling out.
I plant in others’ minds the doubt
that my brain works and never STOPS!
From now on I’ll pray fervently
When others ask, “What do you think?”
When I respond before I link
my brain and mouth, so frequently
my thoughts will be ill-formed or quite
judgmental. God requires more care
and thoughtfulness from me. A prayer,
however brief, will take the bite
from my opinions, making me
an asset to those in my life,
preventing me from causing strife
with thoughtless words. Prayer is the key.
