From My Window

I see the lights
on the bridge
   from my window
cars moving along
   the highway
bring thousands to
      their destinations
  You can't ask
for more than
    can be given
but really - if you don't
expect much you won't get much
     All those people
out there in the
     darkness
     What are they
searching for?
    Well, if dawn
is its own answer
    we have nothing to
worry about
     Voices in the
shadow continue to
sing sweet and
  low
traffic continues to move
      Let's not give
up our urban dreams
  just yet
We still can hope
 for a good
  resolution
To the problem of living
   in the metropolis
to the problem of living
among the urban masses

I grew up in the city--but live in the country now. It's a nice change--but "home" for me will be in the mountains. Been dreaming about mountains since I was a kid almost, lol. Very beautifully written with rich imagery and introspection. Regards, Sara:)

Much to think about in this poem. Nice use of imagery. I think the title compliments the poem. Best wishes with your writing. Karen

Great poem Mathew. I don't live in the city so I haven't really experienced the whole urban, matropolis thing. If you ever want to get away from that for a while I have 2 words for you, West Virginia, 'nuff said. But seriously, good job. Love Always, Leah.

Your window seems to be access to understanding and thought. Love the flow of your thoughts here as you present yourself very well. Michael

The bridge in the city is an awesome sight to behold, I'll never forget when I first saw the skyline of NYC for the first time, there are no words...beautiful poems here dear, as always, an urban delight. Peace, Kristin
