From Hurt To Healing

When others hurt you verbally and the arrows pierce your heart, do not act in anger, nor toss your fire-filled darts. Pause instead and take a breath, and let God's Spirit in. Respond in love, then turn away, and don't let Satan win. Each time your suffer in the name of the Lord, be comforted in knowing He has your reward. He'll bind up your wounds. He'll give you strength for the day, when you trust in His Word, and walk in His way. Remember God's promise: "I will never leave you, nor forsake you."( Heb. 13:5) God's healing balm is always there, when you turn to Him in faith and prayer.

Hello, Hamida. Thanks for your response, and I'm glad you visited my page and read this poem. I think everyone can relate to situations like this. I was just trying to suggest that responding in love will help to diffuse the situation. While angry retorts never seem to help... I am enjoying your poems, too. And I'm happy we connected with each other. Blessings, Darlene

Thank you, Robert, for reading this poem and for the 7. It is so much appreciated. God has put the love of poetry in my heart and it has helped me though life's difficult days. I raised a cherished son with CF. Lost him at 13.When he was 3, God told me to write,( my outlet for grief.) I've been writing poems ever since.I wrote happy kid's poems to entertain Gary and later branched out to spiritual, nature, etc. At 77 I'm still writing.God saw me Through.True to His way, Blessings, Darlene

Hello, Shadow, thanks for agreeing with my point. Like others, I am still practicing on improving. But every step forward strengthens me.

When someone hurts our feelings, our first reaction is to lash back. But instead of giving back anger for anger, try practicing a softer response that will diffuse the situation. Remember that old saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones...."But words do hurt!" Still, ahead of time, if we practice a Christ-like comeback, that will diffuse anger, both parties will benefit and learning another Good habit takes time and practice. But well worth it. Who has a comeback response to share?

True, but so hard to do. It's really good advice Darlene and it is much better for your blood pressure also.

Forming another good habit takes time and practice, but well worth it, don't you think? And God is right there with us, saying, you can do it! Respond in love and soften those hurtful blows.

Yes, Brenda, my friend, but it gets easier as we learn to control our out bursts by forcing ourselves to pause before we react. Just take that vital second to let God guide our responses. As we continue to practice, amazing things will begin to happen. The other person's anger will soften as you take her/him by surprise and do not return anger for anger. I, myself, am improving, as I remember to take that pause. And how true about the blood pressure!

Thanks, Faye, glad to hear from someone that has been through it, too! With God's guidance we understand more.
