From Dust To Dust
“From dust to dust…”* Thus declares Scripture truth
That had confounded my soul’s very core
And is ceaselessly confronting my heart
Nagging me with this question I must face:
“Am I prepared for my coffin’s sealing?”
Succumbing to mind’s reality-check
I’m propelled to peek thru my burial site
And behold my mortal body’s graveyard
Only to be gripped with this inquiry:
“How ready am I for my final rites?”
With my faith in the mighty Saviour God
I’m secured of eternal life’s abode
Where forever I’ll enjoy heaven’s bliss
Yet, never can I deny this demand:
“Where will my earthly tabernacle lie?”
A decent burial’s surely a blessing
Such is my desire I believe is good gift
I can receive from my Creator Lord
Whose wondrous grace He indeed freely grants…
“Do I deserve it when perfect time comes?”
Midst reverberating spiritual hymns
In a casket beautified with flowers
My human temple radiates gratitude
To the mighty God of resurrection**
While inspiring others to live their best!
*Ecclesiastes 3:20 “All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.”
** John 11:25 “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”
