From Dubhe To Polaris

Swinging free among the stars
from the big dippers Dubhe,
Ursa Minor to Major,
warmed by the touch of two bears

A little science lesson, as I understood my research on this poem:

     My thought when I saw this members contest was to stretch a hammock in space, hooking one end to the big dipper and the other to the little dipper. After researching, I found that the two dippers were in Ursa Major and Ursa Minor and their stars were included in the Little Bear and Great Bear constellations. I thought, well space is cold so stretching out between the two bears would keep me warm. lol Hope you enjoy !!

Debra Squyres September 5, 2012 at 2:39 PM Polaris is the North Star, found on the little dipper, Dubhe is the star at the lip of the Big dipper....both the Ursa Major and Ursa Minor contain one of the dippers as well as the constellations dubbed, Great Bear and Little Bear.
