Friendship's Bloom

For every glowing grin and kindly face,
We take a gambit on what waits inside,
For rare is it, that smiles come with grace -
Far less is what they show, than what they hide.
So in the course of choosing well, a friend,
I look for kind and honest, thoughtful, care ...
For all the lasting friendships, in the end,
Will bud and grow from seedlings planted there.
There is one special bloom here, on this site,
Who from the very first, was kind and true,
And if they hadn't shined on me, their light ...
I would not now be sharing this ... with you.
