Friendship of Lies
You allowed me to trust you and I believed in your words.
The sincerity in them broke down walls so I trusted you.
You knew my past yet you cemented yourself in my present
Knowing you had no intent of being in my future.
I gave you me but it never was quite good enough.
I was just your well-kept secret to pass the time.
Who knew your heart belonged to the woman you call wife
And that the person I fell for would never really be mine?
You knew of the hurt and abuse that men gave me
Yet you didn't care because you gave me the same.
The person I got to know is not the real deal;
That is saved for the person you chose to give your last name.
What have I done to you for you to use me?
Why involve me in all of your lies and deceit?
Why was I the lucky one chosen
So you can sneak behind her back to cheat?
You had me going thinking I was special.
Like Storm, you created a fog I couldn't see through.
I felt the lies but believed the words
So it's more on me than it is on you.
I gave my heart to you, broken and torn.
I asked you to take care of it for me.
Your words implied promises never meant to be kept
Because you took my heart only to destroy it completely.
Now I hate you; we can't even be friends,
There's absolutely no point in pretending.
It hurts a lot but we are irreparable
And my heart is past the point of mending.
