Friend Or Fake

The treachery of a false friend
is sudden, cutting—always cruel;
his knavery observes no end
and he’ll use you like a drunk fool.

He’ll play you like a violin,
like a puppet on a tight string;
before long he’ll get you to sin
and do a lawless, evil thing.

Thanks, Jan, for reading and commenting! True friends indeed are like flawless diamonds, both rare and very precious; and harder to come by these days, too. hugs Ngoc
