Friend
as depression settles in
the tears come out
and there's that one friend
you cant do without
they are by your side
every day and night
doing everything they can
to help you win this fight
but no matter what they do
nothing seems to work
when others ask "are you ok?"
you hide your pain with a smirk
but nothing fools that dear best friend
they see the pain behind the smile
they wrap their arms around you, pull you close
and whisper "it will be okay in a while"
in their arms, head on their shoulders
you let the tears go, start to shake
they say nothing, let you vent
willing to listen no matter how long it may take
you want to die, but know you cant
the pain will continue, but you will too
then suddenly a smile graces your face
as your friend whispers three little words
"i love you"
