Friday Night

it’s 3:36 am and you’re awake
praying in silence to the woman lying next to you, tucked in your sheets
to give you meaning
to fill your empty skin with something reckless
to make it easy
you’re breathing is out of sync with hers
two disjointed strangers falling in and out of love so quickly, you could’ve sworn it never happened
you stay silent
because the air is so fragile, if you tell her you want her to know you, it will surely shatter
