Freedom's Wall

young Marine stands proud and tall, studies names on the black wall. Traces a steady hand upon a name, Within his heart a burning flame. his eyes flow with soulful tears, a Marine not known throughout his years. pain and sorrow etched in his watery eyes, an inquisitive mind that will not die. a mournful heart in young man’s chest for a father who did his best. hoping to find recompense, to remove mortal consequence. Determination, strength of conviction, offers a ceremonial prayer, a solemn benediction. for his protector, faithful disciple, a Marine his father Michael. the young Marine salutes his father takes hold of the hand of his widow mother his father's brilliance knows no bounds for a son who wears his name like a royal crown.
