Free Will Is a Thing of Beauty

Free will is a thing of beauty
On the best of days
We rank ourselves a notch
Above the animal kingdom
Because there’s more to life

More than simple procreation
And being part of a life cycle
So we believe we are more
Than the sum of our parts

The meaning of life
Ours ultimately to define
With potential for challenge
And surpassing ourselves

In a multitude of ways
Finding each our path 
Contributing to evolution
The advancement of mankind

Humanitarian achievements
In facets of arts and science
And whatever other tangent
We can possibly dream up

Scrutinizing colonies of ants
Humans are a breed distinct
With their inflated egos
Focused on wrestling for supremacy

Free will is a thing of beauty
Bent on destroying more than creating
In a world of chaos there’s no denying
The meaning of life is a conundrum
Ours to decipher as we cling to hope
