Fragments of a Fading Love

In midnight’s hollow, your whispers carve
through the cold, a delicate love,
unraveling the veil
of what we once called ours.
Each word, a shard of glass,
reflecting memories that once glowed,
now shattered, scattered across our distance.

Your touch, once the only thing I needed,
now lingers like a ghost,
haunting the space where warmth used to dwell.
City lights flicker, dimming like lost hopes,
while rain mingles with the tears
we’re too proud to shed.

You let me down, not with a crash,
but a slow, aching fade,
like the final note of a song
hanging in the air,
echoing in a heart that breaks,
yet still yearns for the melody
of what could have been.

We built a world from dreams and smoke,
but the fire died,
leaving only ashes
of what we couldn’t hold.
Now the wind scatters them,
carrying fragments of forever
into the oblivion of what we lost.

On boulevards where our souls once danced,
shadows stretch cold and long.
Neon signs pulse in vain,
too weak to guide us
back to where we lost ourselves.
The city’s heartbeat fades,
echoing the silence of our broken connection.

A void now lies between us,
too wide to bridge.
Even words surrender,
sinking into the abyss
where our love once bloomed.
Nights grow longer,
filled with echoes of what’s unsaid.

Do you feel it too,
this weight of an ending we can’t escape?
Do you replay the moments,
searching for the place
where we could’ve turned back?
Or have you let go,
leaving me alone in this maze of what ifs?

And so we part,
not with anger or regret,
but a quiet acceptance
that what was once tender and bright
has turned to dust in our hands.
We let it slip away,
a delicate love, dulled by time.
