Fragile Hearts
Feelings that were dormant for oh so long
Run through me like quartz veins within a rock
And though I thought they'd vanished, I was wrong
Gazing on you again they were unlocked.
In time, I thought that they would fade away
Lost in the drifting tides of memory
Erased one at a time each waking day
Heart healed of all those scars called you and me.
Except today we both met up by chance
An unexpected frisson gripped my soul
Reeling from this strange gift from circumstance
The past lifted me up,swallowed me whole.
Scars open. Hearts broken.
For contest 'Fragile hearts'.
