Fractured

How long have you and I been together?
I can’t recall when we met,
Do you?
You have been a part of my life for decades.

Late nights, spent together
Hiding our relationship.
You were always there for me, in
Times of purgatory and utter elation

My mom found me passed out.
Where were you when the ambulance came?
Why didn’t you visit?
The doctors tell me that you’re no friend of mine.

Today begins first steps,
Recovery.
I can no longer see you and
My heart is heavy for it.

I miss you.
My best friend,
My eating disorder.
I’ll send you a post card.
