This actually happened end of September north of Toronto. The whole city was outraged. Dedicated to the Neville-Lake family.

Three children and their grandfather died yesterday,
They died all together in a most tragic way.
Moments earlier, they were happily driving down that country road,
When you hear what happened to them, your head will explode.

Another man was driving, under the influence, that's what they say,
He should have made better decisions, before driving that day.
He likely forgot that all his decisions have consequences,
Now he'll spend the rest of his life, trying to mend these broken fences.

The thing is, it doesn't matter how sorry he is sometime later,
The pain and suffering he caused others, will always be greater.
How many times do we have to hear tragic stories like these,
before people who drink and drive are brought to their knees?

For the drunk driver it's goes on.
For the victims family...they try hard to carry on.
They wake up each day, trying to find a reason to live,
Even harder is...finding the strength to forgive.

Thanks for checking out one of my first posts on the soup. This one was a visceral write, to mute my intense feelings I wrote in rhyme to limit what I wanted to say. One person eliminates 4 members of another family, because of drinking, at least he got 10 years in prison, which is unusual here in Canada. The family got a 10 million dollar payout, won't bring back their 2kids and grandparents but to some degree justice was served. Thanks for your always great comments, take care Freddie, God bless!

Wow thank you Jan I thought you might like this, Andrea faved it too, as her brother was killed by a drunk driver years ago, I like the title too but no one understands it until they read the poem, as a result, no too many views. Thanks again.
